Life Expectancy

In Europe life expectancy are increasing in all countries.

If you are Spanish and born today your average life expectancy is 83.2 years (Male 80.7 y and Female 85.7 y) which is 4.1 year longer than if you are born in year 2000.

If you are Bulgarian and born today your average life expectancy is 75.1 years (Male 71.6y and Female 78.6 y) which is 3.5 year longer than if you are born in year 2000.

In all European countries average life span is foreseen to increase between Sweden’s 2.8 years to Estonia’s 8.0 years.

Globally the life span is expected to increase by 6.5 years in the same period.

At the same time the birth rate is declining in Europe. The birth rate was 1.53 live births per woman in 2021. A birth rate of approximately 2.1 is needed to maintain a population.

Not considering immigration, the obvious result of this is a declining and aging population in Europe and many other industrialized countries.
