We at NutriXperts are wishing you all a great holiday away from work. It is a time to forget about daily challenges and demanding customers or colleagues. Even if you love every minute of your working time it is crucial to take a mental break and get some distance.
Holidays aren’t always smooth sailing! You might face flight delays, a cockroach in the hotel bathroom or deal with conflicts with your teenage daughter. But at least these are different problems!
Taking a break from work can give you a fresh perspective since you can reflect on your career and ask important questions like: Am I doing the right thing? Should I try something different? Is this job right for me? What’s next? Just being away can boost your job motivation.
It is great to see your colleagues again when you return. However, it might be tough to get back to your usual work pace. Taking your time is healthy and you might see your work in a new light or decide to do things differently based on your holiday reflections.
In Southeast Asia, holidays are short – only one to three weeks per year. I find this counterproductive as people tend to change jobs more often without the chance to take mental breaks and reflect. Due to this frequent job change, employers invest less in employee trainings, except for the basics needed to do the job.
OK this was some work reflection, time to go sailing….
